MENTOPLASTY

An advancement mentoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to modify the position and shape of a person's chin. This surgery is performed to correct congenital defects, improve facial harmony or treat facial profile problems.

It is important to note that advancement mentoplasty is a surgical procedure that carries both risks and benefits, and should be performed by an experienced surgeon. Before undergoing this surgery, it is essential to discuss your goals and concerns with a medical professional and to fully understand the procedure, expected results and possible side effects.

PROCEDURE

The following is an explanation of this procedure:

Evaluation: Before performing an advancement mentoplasty, a thorough evaluation of the patient's facial structure will be performed. This includes the study of the relationship between the chin, nose and other facial features such as skin, dental status and bite and jaw joint function. To make an adequate anthropometric analysis (measurements) of the patient's face, a photographic study of 3 lateral and anterior-posterior specialized medical photographs is requested, as well as lateral and panoramic radiographs of the mouth. The patient's expectations and desired results will also be considered.

Anesthesia: The surgery is performed under general anesthesia to ensure that the patient is completely asleep and pain-free during the procedure.

Incision: The incision is made inside the mouth avoiding the formation of external scars. The chin advancement is performed according to the measurements taken previously. To make a chin augmentation I do NOT use silicone implants or any prosthesis. My experience has led me to use the same chin of the patient with an impeccable technique thus allowing the results of chin surgery are the most natural and durable as possible in time and that there is minimal possibility of rejection of the osteosynthesis material. This novel technique has been the determining factor of success in the chin surgeries he has performed.

Recuperación: After surgery, the patient can expect a period of recovery, including swelling, bruising and discomfort in the chin area. Postoperative care instructions will be provided, such as diet, oral hygiene and the use of medications to control pain and prevent infection.
